The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) is organizing a virtual event to discuss the Vermont Saves program, a new statewide initiative influencing small businesses within Vermont. The program mandates new administrative responsibilities for employers and aims to provide retirement savings options for employees who lack employer-sponsored plans.

Becky Wasserman, representing the Office of the State Treasurer, will explain the program details, including employer responsibilities and critical deadlines. The session will address how the Vermont Saves program establishes a retirement savings plan for those without access through their employers, automatically enrolling them in a Roth IRA account. Employee contributions are deducted directly from paychecks, although workers have the flexibility to choose their contribution rates or select the default rate. Additionally, employees have the option to opt out if they prefer.

This educational event is open to all without cost, but participants must register in advance. The access link will be provided on the day of the event. For registration assistance or to submit questions prior to the event, Julianna Rauf, NFIB Grassroots Manager, can be contacted at julianna.rauf@nfib.org.
