A rally was held at the Vermont State House on March 13th, drawing nearly 100 Vermonters and several lawmakers advocating for changes in the state's energy policies. The focus of the event was to support repealing the Clean Heat Tax and reforming costly energy legislation.

NFIB Vermont members have actively voiced their concerns regarding these issues. State Representative Mark Higley (Orleans-Lamoille) and Senator Terry Williams (Rutland) addressed attendees about the need to control the costs and impacts of recent energy laws.

Senator Williams is leading efforts with S.68, a bill aimed at repealing the Clean Heat Act, including its fuel dealer registration requirements. This proposal has been under discussion in the Senate Natural Resources and Energy Committee.

Representative Higley sponsors several bills, such as H.65, which seeks to reverse Vermont's adoption of California's vehicle emissions standards and electric vehicle mandates. Another bill, H.62, proposes repealing the 2020 Global Warming Solutions Act that requires significant greenhouse gas reductions by 2050.

Governor Phil Scott prioritizes providing Vermont with more flexibility in achieving greenhouse gas reduction targets without undue pressure from special interest groups.
