One of the most notable successes for lovers of the Green Mountains in 2022 was the rediscovery of purple crowberry on Mount Mansfield. This fall, this particular crowberry variety was spotted for the first time in Vermont in 114 years, a powerful reminder that practicing Leave No Trace principles by sticking to designated trails and walking on durable surfaces has important impacts on the mountaintops we love and enjoy.
