Green Mountain Club Long Trail Vermont issued the following announcement.
We're so excited to get started this season! Pictured, Trail Crew Field Supervisor Kevin Hart, Volunteer Long Trail Patrol Lead Dylan Mark, and Backcountry Construction Crew Assistant Lead Ry Samosiuk scout the Stratton Pond area ahead of the work season.
We've got a lot planned for the Stratton area, including building a new shelter to add overnight capacity at Stratton View, and finishing spur trails and realignments of the Long Trail/ Appalachian Trail. Then we'll lift all the garbage and old lumber out of the area by helicopter.
This will wrap up a three-year plan to relocate trails around the pond and make the site more sustainable. Stay tuned for updates!
