The American Legion Post #14 is pleased to host the Annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 30, 2022. Beginning at 11:00a.m., the parade begins at Vergennes Union High School and runs throughout the City of Vergennes along a 1.5-mile route.

The theme for this year’s parade is “Home of the Free, Because of the Brave”. Hosting since 1946, the parade honors all the men and women who have served our country during times of conflict. It is designed to appeal to veterans and the entire community. All participants are strongly encouraged to prominently display patriotic style decorations to the meet the parade’s purpose and theme. The American Legion Post #14 will host its annual chicken BBQ following the parade at 100 Armory Lane in Vergennes.

1. Participants should arrive by 9:30a.m. and check in with a Legion volunteer and pick up their number for line up placement. 
2. Floats will be judged at 10:15a.m. and are based on theme, workmanship, originality, & general effect.
3. The 1.5-mile parade starts at Vergennes Union High School, west onto Monkton Road, left onto Main Street, left on Maple Street, east on Victory Street, north on Green Street, and ends at the City Green in the center of Vergennes. 
4. The Legion will NOT be having a Memorial Day Service on the Green following the parade this year.
5. No parking is available at Vergennes Union High School.
6. Per the Vergennes PD, no candy is to be thrown to the crowd from moving vehicles or floats due to safety concerns.  If you wish to distribute candy, you may have people walking on the outside of your vehicle or float handing out candy.
7. Please complete the online form to officially register to participate in the parade. The emcee will announce and identify your entry as you go down Main Street based on the information you provide.
