Vermont residents are invited to participate in a webinar discussing the potential impacts of Vermont Senate Bill 5, known as the “not-so-affordable heat act.” This bill could cost taxpayers an estimated $1.2 billion, translating to a 70-cents per gallon tax on heating fuels. The event is scheduled for February 28th from 8:30 to 9:00 am and will be conducted virtually via Microsoft Teams.
The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) is hosting this free event, though advance registration is required. Matt Cota, founder of Meadow Hill Consulting and a former journalist with extensive experience in Vermont’s political and regulatory landscape, will serve as the guest speaker. Cota has been involved in helping businesses and organizations navigate complex regulations for over 15 years.
“Matt Cota…is well versed on the impacts of S.5, regulation of greenhouse gas emissions,” reads the press release. His experience includes serving on various councils and committees within Vermont, emphasizing his expertise in public policy and community service.
