The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets has announced the development of a social media campaign that will feature women farmers from Vermont. The initiative is designed to highlight the work and contributions of women in agriculture within the state.

This campaign aligns with an international effort recognizing 2026 as the International Year of the Woman Farmer. A resolution introduced by the United States, and co-sponsored by 123 countries, was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on May 2, 2024. This marks a global commitment to supporting and acknowledging women’s roles in agriculture. More information about this international recognition can be found at Celebrating International Year of the Woman Farmer – NASDA.

The agency is inviting Vermont women farmers who wish to participate in the campaign to submit their name and farm or business, four to five photos related to their farming activities, a brief summary of their background, a quote describing their approach to farming or producing, and any relevant social media accounts for inclusion in posts. Submissions should be sent to trevor.audet@vermont.gov.

Selected stories will be shared on the Vermont Agency of Agriculture’s Instagram and Facebook pages. The agency also encourages nominations or referrals for other potential candidates.
