The University of Vermont announced on April 17 the completion and formal dedication of the Pizzagalli Support Building, a new facility at the Archie Post Athletic Complex made possible by a $2 million lead gift from Remo and Donna Pizzagalli. The $5 million project is intended to improve experiences for student-athletes, fans, and community members who use the complex.
The new building is seen as an important step for UVM Athletics, providing modern amenities that support high-level events and recruitment efforts. The facility features gameday locker rooms, athletic training space, an officials’ room, concessions, ticketing areas, restrooms, and gathering spaces for supporters.
“This is a very exciting moment for our athletics program, and I’m incredibly appreciative of the support from Remo and Donna and the many others who have contributed so generously to the project’s completion,” said ’89, UVM’s director of athletics. “The Pizzagalli Support Building is a game-changer—we now have a modern facility that supports all of the high-level games and events that occur at the complex and annually attract tens of thousands of visitors to our campus.”
Serving nearly 300 student-athletes as well as coaches and staff across field hockey, soccer, lacrosse, track & field programs—and accommodating more than 50,000 visits each year—the one-story building acts as an anchor for Virtue Field, Moulton Winder Field, and Frank H. Livak ’41 Track & Field Facility.
Additional funding came from several alumni with strong ties to UVM soccer. John ’68 Hilton’s major contribution led to naming rights for Hilton Family Plaza; Peter Bernhardt ’72 was honored with naming rights for the home locker room; Sally ’88 Gregoire’s family also provided significant support.
Kathleen Kelleher ’83 said: “This facility will have an immediate and lasting impact, strengthening the sense of community that defines UVM… We are deeply grateful to the Pizzagalli family and all donors who made this project a reality.” Remo Pizzagalli added: “This project represents everything we value—teamwork, opportunity, and giving back… We’re proud to support a facility that will serve so many student-athletes… We hope this building helps create lasting experiences for generations of Catamounts to come.”
