3.9% of citizens in Vermont unemployed in 2021

Vermont's unemployment rate hit 3.9% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That's 13,668 people out of the 641,637 living in Vermont at the time, according to data U.S. Census Bureau data obtained on Oct. 26, 2023.

The unemployment rate in Vermont has increased compared to the 3.8% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Vermont was less than the national unemployment rate of 5.5%.

Of the 336,151 people who had a job during that time, 912 were employed in the Armed Forces and 335,239 belonged to the civilian labor force.
