A federal grand jury has indicted Rahm Klampert, a two-time U.S. Open snowboarding champion from Hartford, Vermont, on charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl. The indictment was returned on July 31, 2025.
Klampert pleaded not guilty during his arraignment before United States Magistrate Judge Kevin J. Doyle on the same day. Judge Doyle ordered that Klampert remain in detention while the case proceeds.
Court records state that law enforcement executed a search warrant at Klampert’s residence and personal training studio, Rahm’s Results, both located in Hartford. Authorities recovered approximately 1.1 kilograms of methamphetamine, 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, and 75 grams of fentanyl from these locations. In addition to the drugs, officers found 12 firearms—including suspected short-barreled shotguns, assault rifles, and handguns—three of which were identified as stolen. Other items seized included a money-counter machine and over $100,000 in cash. Law enforcement received multiple reports alleging that Klampert was involved in drug trafficking in the Hartford area.
The United States Attorney’s Office noted that an indictment contains only allegations and that Klampert is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. If convicted on these charges, he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years in prison and could receive up to life imprisonment; sentencing would be determined by the District Court according to federal guidelines and statutory factors.
Acting United States Attorney Michael P. Drescher acknowledged the work of several agencies: “I commend the investigatory efforts of the Hartford Police Department, the Vermont State Police, the Vermont Drug Task Force, the Brattleboro Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations.”
Assistant United States Attorney Corinne Smith and Special Assistant United States Attorney Charles W. Kirkham are prosecuting the case. Klampert is represented by Assistant Federal Public Defender Charles Curlett.
