FOIA Request Sent to Vermont Board of Education Regarding Instructional Mandates for State K-12 Schools on December 10, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Vermont Board of Education on December 10, 2024. The request was made by Green Mountain Times, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The FOIA request specifically sought a list of all instructional mandates for state K-12 schools. This includes all required courses and general instruction. As a media organization, we believe it is essential to have access to public records in order to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

In the request, we also stated our belief that we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional given our role in disseminating information.
