During 2025, the FDA inspected 33 companies in Vermont’s food and cosmetics industry a total of 35 times, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

These inspections represented the highest count for any company type in Vermont, accounting for 79.5% of all FDA inspections conducted in the state that year.

Among the Vermont food and cosmetics firms, Freedom Foods, LLC received the largest number of citations from the FDA in 2025.

The FDA routinely inspects facilities across the nation to determine if the workplace and their products are compliant with FDA-regulated laws and regulations implemented to improve overall public health. Inspection results are then disclosed publicly.

According to its website, the FDA is a government agency that is primarily responsible for monitoring the production and distribution of human and animal drugs, biological products, medical supplies and tobacco products for safety and quality.
